I’m excited to announce that I’ve teamed up with Haul Fly Fishing to start guiding again! While it’s a part-time gig, it’s been a great way to scratch the recent itch I’ve had to spend more time on the water with like-minded people. Taking friends out and fishing with Anchored Outdoors members has reminded me just how incredible it is to share our time outdoors.
Recently, I posted a casual vlog on my YouTube channel where my friend Josh Mulders and I set off to explore fisheries he and Charles used to fish almost 30 years ago. Guiding aside, it’s been fun reconnecting with Charles and learning about his old stomping grounds, then coming home to update him on how they’re fishing.

Some of you might remember Josh from our previous Snowy River trip down south. A long-time friend of my husband’s and now a close family friend, Josh’s enthusiasm is always contagious. When we decided to dive back into the guiding world together, we set off to the Blue Mountains, close enough to be accessible, yet far enough to guarantee a quality experience.
The Blue Mountains, with their distinctive blue haze created by eucalyptus trees, are a hidden gem just outside Sydney. They offer a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, rich history, and a diverse ecosystem. Beyond their breathtaking beauty, these mountains have a rich indigenous history and played a crucial role in shaping the development of the country.
Our plan was to check out a stream that Josh hadn’t fished in over 20 years. The dry, barren landscape was set with massive boulders, straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. It took us about 45 minutes to reach the water, but the sight of rushing water made it all worthwhile.
Our adventure wasn’t just about fishing (is it ever in Australia?). Along the way, we came across fascinating wildlife, from cicadas to curious insects like ant lions. Josh shared his knowledge about the local fauna, making the trip even more educational and entertaining.
We explored both sides of the Blue Mountains, each offering its charm. While one side boasted lush temperate rainforests and waterfalls, the other provided sandy rivers and shallow waters ideal for sight-fishing.
