This fall, I had the unique opportunity to visit Rick Hinderer and his renowned knife factory in Shreve, Ohio. It wasn’t a formal tour, but rather an invitation to step into the heart of where some of the most iconic knives in the world are crafted.
From the moment I arrived, I could feel the energy and passion that defines the Hinderer brand. The factory is a perfect blend of high-tech machinery and hands-on craftsmanship. Rick himself was incredibly welcoming, eager to share his process and the philosophy behind his work.
Walking through the workshop, I saw firsthand how raw materials like titanium and CPM20CV steel are transformed into the durable, precision-engineered knives Hinderer is known for. Every step, from milling and grinding to assembly and inspection, is done with meticulous attention to detail. It’s clear that each knife isn’t just a product but a labor of love.
